Last week’s goals were clearly overly optimistic.

This week I want to move my story forward by one chapter. That might mean revising chapter 4 again. That might mean writing an entirely new chapter to replace chapter 4. That might mean picking up somewhere else in the plot and writing something there.

There’s still just a lot of stuff in the outline that doesn’t make sense. I’m ready to start looking at the first draft as raw materials that may or may not be used when I rebuild the thing from the ground up. I feel like I’ve spent too much time trying to make something work that just doesn’t.

I’m happy with the first three chapters, so I’m going to keep those and then do some puzzle work with the rest of it and see what comes out.
