Unmagical started out as a 25 episode story on Kindle Vella (titled Cate the Cursed). After two years of work, it’s about to be published as a novel on Kindle Unlimited.

To celebrate, I’m releasing the newest draft back to Kindle Vella for early access!

If you were with me in 2021-22 for Cate the Cursed, this is the 2nd edition of that story. It’s been revised, edited, and extended to almost twice the length. At the moment, if you previously downloaded the story to your Kindle app, you may have some trouble getting it to switch over to the new release, but there are no problems reading it through your browser, and I’m hopeful the app will update soon.

(You’ll know you have the new ones when you see the chapter titles change. Chapter one is now “Cate the Cursed,”and the following chapters have titles that were pulled from the episode. In the original, chapter one was “The Call,” all of the following chapters were named after steps in the hero’s journey.)

Thank you so, so much to everyone who’s been here since the beginning. It is not overstating things to say this book would not be here without that one reader who followed Cate through 25 episodes the first time!

And for those of you who are just finding this story now, I hope you love it, and I can’t wait for you to see what comes next!
