It’s important to note that the day’s not over yet, and I have some more writing time planned this afternoon.

That said, although I don’t have a new chapter done, I did make significant revisions to chapters 3-5 this week. I finished the new chapter 5 at swim practice this morning.

Lots and lots of cuts, but somehow managed to keep the word count about the same.

This afternoon I’m going to give chapter 5 one more pass and then try and get to new content for chapter 6. There’s a confrontation coming that got skipped in the big picture/world-building first draft. Draft 2 is all about making the characters take more active roles in events around them. Now that I’ve figured out what they want, and why they want it (I think), they need to work for it.
