What I’m Reading

Still going through #ilonaandrews #magicburns. I’m moving maybe a little slower than I’d like, but my brain keeps going to #newproject instead of staying focused on the book in front of me.

What I’m loving about this series is the way they subvert expectations around traditional magic and magical creatures. The whole magic/tech being up or down world building is fascinating. And check out this paragraph where Kate explains vampires to a child.

It says so much about not just the mythology, but the characters and the culture that created them. It’s covering medical, legal, and emotional ground in a way that makes logical sense to a kid in that world, without talking down to readers (who obviously didn’t grow up there). #kudos
