Weekly Goals

This week I’m adding another challenge… because somehow I get more done if I have more to do. Don’t ask me how it works. It’s probably something to do with deadlines and procrastination. I need a certain amount of stress to make it seem like there’s consequences. Even if they’re all made up.

So, I’m following Mary Adkins’s 10,000 word challenge on FB. Today she did a livestream about choosing your big question, which aligns pretty well with the other craft work I’m doing. I think it’s going to be good prep for NaNo, as I’m still trying to narrow down the plot for Cate 2. (Basically I had ideas for the next three or four books, but I’m starting to think that two of them might be the same book, so I need to figure out how that’s going to work and what ties it all together.)

And I’m still taking notes on Maggie Stiefvater’s seminar.

And I’m still reading to learn.

And I posted episode 8 of the Devil in the Details today, which means I need to advertise it, and I need to write at least one more episode this week. I have the next two episodes roughed out, but the next one is an action ep, and I haven’t written that many of those, so I had a little trouble working out what needs to happen.

Then I’m into act 3, which is a whole different style of story… so I need to work out the transition and figure out how the main plot of act 3 links up with the stuff that comes before and after it.

Plus, you know, we’re getting over being sick, and starting to get ready for Halloween, so there’s plenty to keep me busy. I’m definitely still in the bouncing around phase where I’m not staying focused on anything very long, so it’s good to have all these options. So many ways to keep making progress. Here I go.
