Over the weekend, I read through what I had of Act 1, got some very helpful comments from my alpha reader (thanks @katkeenanbooks!), and did some quick revisions to help me get into Act 2.

So, I went from around 16k words to down to 12k, and I’m now back up to 13k. And I still haven’t nailed that last scene. I wanted to be around 30k by the end of this week. It’s not going to happen.

But. I think some of the cut stuff will make it into a reader magnet, and the act flows much better without it.

I’m writing this in a break between my second and third sprints of the day, and I think I’m going to try and stop looking at the word count so much this week. Just count the sprints instead.

So, three-fours sprints on Cate 2, and at least one sprint on the magnet, or the spin-off series, or the vella idea that won’t go away.

Stop trying to build. Still making bricks.
