It was another really low writing week, and here’s how I’ve decided to view that:
This is an input week, not an output week because, because, because, because, becaaaaaaause… IDK, maybe the wizard will give me the words next week.
Seriously.
The story is there. It’s going to get written. Maybe it’s not fully baked yet. Maybe it needs a little more time proving before it goes in the oven. Maybe I should watch less of the Great British Baking Show.
Writing-adjacent things I did this week:
-Received a new assignment from IAM for the May issue.
-Panicked about doing an interview with a best-selling author
-Agreed to do it anyway
-Googled all the things, watched all the videos, took all the notes, and tried not to sound like a psycho stalker when I contacted her.
-Started reading her book and became a fangirl.
-Wrote 20 questions AND SENT THEM TO HER.
-Took several deep breaths.
-Wrote some words for the Hunter book
-Stared blankly at the pages (also blank) I’m supposed to be writing for Cate 2.
-Revised a little bit of Sixes and made a plan for how to relaunch it with actual hooks and plot points instead of skipping over the scary parts (did not actually write any of those scary parts yet).
-Had a weird dream about my next vella (and it totally counts as work)
-Finished Maggie Stiefvater’s seminar
-Almost caught up on A Spell in the Wild (I’m in February)
-Rewrote my query letter
-Stalked some agents I queried in February trying to find out more about their expected response time.
-Queried two new agents because, why not?
-Revised my mood board and tweeted the draft to #premoodpitch for feedback (actual pitches go next week)
-Finished reading A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman (upstairs book)
-Finished reading Big Chicas Don’t Cry by Annette Chavez Macias (downstairs book)
-Finished listening to The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E Harrow
-Started reading Museum of Magic by Beth Revis (upstairs book)
-Stared reading Winter’s Myths by Gage Greenwood (downstairs book)
-Started reading The Mantle by WT Meadows and Chrishaun Keller-Hanna (digital book)
-Started listening to The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
